While I am working on the actual post for this, I wanted to give you guys a little preview of the sugar shock I went through to judge this competition last night.
Yup, had to taste all of those....and that's not even all of them!!!

Very anxious to hear all about the contest!! Wish I could have been there!
I found the whole thing rather disappointing. It was not as advertised and only had 7 contestants, maybe one or two who where real “cupcakeries” businesses.
You'd be surprised at the number of people who bailed out at the last minute or didn't show up. Baltimore Cupcake Company called the morning of and said they wouldn't be there, and Couture Cupcakes only called a day and a half early saying they wouldn't be there. Sweet N Sassy Cupcakes from Delaware must have dropped out earlier on. You'd expect a little bit more from the "professionals."...
I have to say that the event was extremely poorly organized. Only up to a week before were we contacted to see if we were still interested as I had expressed interest in the contest. Then days before the contest I saw an email claiming we were participating when we had no intention of doing so. So I would not come down on the cupcakeries that did not attend as I am sure they were as turned off with the chaos as we were. And one last little note, one of my peers, a fellow cupcakery was reviewed by you and noted that you reviewed flavors that they never even made! Doesn't sound "professional" to me.
You should contact the event organizer at her blog, Blondes-eye-view, with some suggestions for organizing the event next year! I'm sure she'd love to hear any tips you might have.
In regard to the professionals who bailed out, from what I heard two of the three took orders at the last minute which is why they declined at a moments notice. In my mind when you make a commitment to something you should stick to it or find a way to make both work, like 52 Cupcakes did by sending friends to run her booth when she couldn't come.
In regard to your friend, I've yet to receive a note from anyone correcting me on a false review of a baker at the contest. The entrants who I reviewed by name on the blog got nothing but praise for their flavors, so it would be nice if they let me know so they weren't receiving false credit for a flavor they didn't make.
After scoring the entries and submitting the results to the contest organizer to be read to the crowd, we were told by the group of people who brought the cupcakes into us to sample who made what. It's possible that I was misinformed. Whatever the case, I'm not quite sure what you're so bitter about, but my email is danielle@delleicious.com if you'd like to further this conversation. Otherwise, lighten up!
